Q: I want to sell from our website or take phone orders. I am not sure what I need. So...can you help?
A: Certainly! To accept credit cards for your website, phone order, etc. you need two things: A merchant account and a payment gateway. The merchant account is the account with a bank that permits you to accept credit cards. The Payment Gateway provides a link between the merchant acct and your website AND the virtual terminal to manually enter a credit card transaction. When you apply above, you are applying for both. Once approved for the merchant acct, we will setup your payment gateway, via Authorize.net.
Q: What is my total cost to get started?
A: ZERO! There is no fee for the merchant account.
Q: How long will it take to get my account up and running?
A: Your account can be up in as little as ONE day. This is based on your application being complete.
Q: Do I need a Terminal?
A: No. The gateway provides both website orders AND a Virtual Terminal for manual order entry.
Q: Is this account for my High Risk Business?
A: No.  This merchant account is for general product/service based businesses.
Q: How often do I receive funds from my merchant account?
A: Funds are deposited DAILY into your checking account, 3-5 days from settlement.
Q: What Gateway will I be setup with?
A: Once approved, we will email you notification. We will then build your Authorize.net gateway.
Q: How long has Paybyweb been in business?
A: Paybyweb has been in business since 1992.
Q: Does the e-Commerce Merchant account work with Yahoo! Stores?
A: Yes. Once approved, we'll email you a form for the payment gateway. There is a place for you to select YAHOO! Store. Once we receive your request, we handle the rest.
Q: What is the Chargeback fee?
A: A $25 fee will be assessed for chargebacks.
Q: What Credit Cards can I Accept?
A: You can accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover, JCB, and Diners Club.
Q: What do I need to get started?
A: A checking account located in the U.S. Be at least 18yrs old, and have a SSN or EIN.
Q: What is a Gateway? Do I need one?
A: The gateway connects your website to the merchant account. It also provides a Virtual Terminal for manual order entry. Merchant accounts do NOT work without a gateway. Gateway providers include Verisign, Authorize.net, and Plugnpay.com. We are Registered Resellers for Authorize.net, Linkpoint, and Plugnpay.com. Unless otherwise requested, your account will be setup with Authorize.net.
Q: We did not originally request Amex when we applied. How do we add Amex to our account?
A: You can add Amex to your merchant account by clicking HERE
Q: Do I need to select which gateway plan I want when I apply?
A: No. Once approved for the merchant acct, we will email you a link to your Authorize.net Request Form. When you complete that form, you will select which plan you would like.
Q: Once I pick my plan, can I change to a different plan?
A: Once we setup your gateway, we cannot change the fees. So, if you think you are going to process many transactions, pick the Gold or Platinum plan when you activate your account.
Q: Are these the only fees?
A: The fees you see on this page, are the fees you will be charged, unless you request additional services such as Recurring Billing.
Q: Who charges the fees?
A: Other than the activation fees for the Gold/Platinum/Ultimate plan, all fees are charged by your Merchant Service Provider and Authorize.net. They pay Paybyweb directly for our services.
Q: How do I calculate the total fees charged for my merchant acct and gateway?
A: Simply add the Merchant acct AND Gateway fees to calculate your merchant processing cost.
Q: Can I change my banking information (DDA)once my account is established?

Unacceptable Business Types (click unacceptable merchant button above)
- Unacceptable Checking Acct - banks such as Meta or other online banks AND banks that do not accept ACH withdrawal/deposit are not acceptable.  Bank accounts using a pre-paid card.

Merchants who do not pass the identity verification process will be asked to submit a utility bill, bank statement, and copy of Driver's license or other ID.  While the merchant acct and payment gateway will be live, all credit card transactions will reflect an invalid status until merchant passes the verification process.  Once the verification process has been completed, transactions will process normally.

By clicking on the APPLY link above, you understand that you are applying for a merchant account with PayByWeb, in Association with National Merchant Bancard (iPayment).  If you don't process $10 per month in fees (approximately $750 per month in sales), your merchant sevice provider will charge you a $10 fee.  More importantly, if you don`t generate $10 in fees a month...you most likely don't need a merchant account! 

Once the merchant account is Activated by the Merchant Service Provider, Merchant must maintain account for at least 10 months, regardless of when (or whether) merchant activates their payment gateway.  After 10 months, merchant may cancel with no fee.  Prior to 10 months of activation, merchant cancellation subject to $149 cancel fee. Subject to change without notice. 

Once approved, PayByWeb will build your Authorize.net gateway and provide your login/pw.  By submitting your application, you authorize PayByWeb to build, review your settings, and activate your gateway, on your behalf.  Gateway Activation Fees are not refundable once your gateway has been activated, subject to PayByWeb's refund policy24 hour setup is NOT guaranteed and is subject to Merchant Service Provider assigning merchant number.

  • Merchant must process a minimum of $2,500 in unique credit/debit transactions via their Authorize.net gateway in a calendar month for three consecutive months.
  • Applies to new merchants only - who's payment gateway was opened on or after 1/01/2013.
  • Merchant must complete Paybyweb's Service Evaluation form within 30 days of gateway activation date. A link to this form is provided to all new activated merchants.
  • Merchants will be required to submit their 3 monthly gateway billing statements for verification purposes. Statements must be received by Paybyweb no later than the 15th day of the following month.
  • Certain restrictions apply.  Terms subject to change without notice.   Void where prohibited by law.
