What is a Gateway? A gateway (authorize.net, Linkpoint, Paypro, etc.) provides a link from your website or shopping cart to your merchant account. What happens if I apply for the Retail account but use it for my non retail business? That could be BAD. Using a merchant account for purposes other than it is intended can land you on the Terminated Merchant File (TMF), which can prevent you from ever getting another merchant account in your name. Further, making false statements to a bank or financial institution in order to obtain a merchant account can be construed as bank fraud. We SERIOUSLY don't recommend it. The rates are low for all of our accounts. Pick the one that best suits your business. Top

What is my total cost to get started? ZERO! There is no fee for the merchant account. Top

Why is Grass Green? A very good question. We're not sure but we think it has something to do with Chlorophyl. Top

How long does it take for funds to be deposited into my bank account.? That is up to your merchant service provider. Some providers offer 24hr funding while most deposit funds within 3-5 business days. Authorize.net does NOT deposit the money. They simply connect your merchant acct to a website AND provide a virtual terminal. Funding is done by your Merchant Service Provider. Top

Is my personal or business credit a factor in getting a merchant acct? Yes, it is a factor. Look at it this way: You are expecting the bank to pay you within 3 days of making your sale. The bank waits as much as 90 days to get paid: The cardholder has up to 30 days for their credit card cycle, The card statement is mailed which allows up to 30 days for payment. What if they pay you for 2 months, but you don't provide the product to your customers? Now the bank has paid you thousands of dollars and the complaints start coming in. When the bank goes to take the funds back...you have closed your acct and disappeared. Merchant processing is all about RISK. The bank assesses risk with each application. Part of that risk is based on how good a citizen you are. Do you pay your bills timely? Do you pay your bills at all? Do you have judgments and bankruptcy's? All this is a factor. Top
